New investment company focuses on Deep-tech companies in the early stages
Former entrepreneurs Magnus Midholt and Michal Stala starts Mist Ventures, an investment company with a clear profile on tech companies. Magnus and Michal are co-founders of Mistbase, that was acquired by ARM in 2017.
Mist Ventures was started earlier this year and have so far made two investments. The first investment was made last summer when Mist Ventures invested in Gimic, a Växjö-based company within machine learning for industrial Applications.
The new investment is in AligND Systems, which is developing advanced nanowire-based platforms for the biosensor industry, based on nano-research from Lund University and Chalmers. I both of these companies, Michal Stala joins the Board of Directors as representative of Mist Ventures.

“Our investment strategy means that we are looking for companies that have a competitive advantage based on their advanced technology, preferably from research. Another part we look at is the business model, where we prefer business-to-business (B2B). We also want companies to be able to scale up globally. Our investments so far follow our investment strategy very well and we are very excited about these companies future journey.” Says Magnus Midholt
Magnus Midholt has more than 15 years of software and hardware industry experience within product dev. / R&D with a background in telecom from Sony Ericsson / Sony Mobile, Mistbase and Machine Learning/AI at ARM. Magnus driving force is to improve execution, build winning team, strategy, technology and business development for companies in early stages.
Michal Stala has more than 15 years of work experience in the telecommunications industry and was one of the founders of Mistbase that got acquired by ARM. Michal continued to work at ARM as Director of the LPWAN Group (Low Power Wide Area Network). Michal’s interests are to pursue own companies and get involved in other business activities, via investments, where his business and technical skills will be of benefit.
